Welcome to Changing Tides from Strength From Within !
What a glorious morning it is! The sun is shining, the robin that sits on my windowsill every morning is chirping its happy song, and today I’m making pancakes. Pancakes are my favourite, especially when they’re topped with fruit. Strawberries are usually the best choice. Strawberries with strawberry syrup. My mom makes her own syrup and mails it to me. I don’t know why she does that when I can easily come pick it up. She only lives an hour away across the bridge. Maybe a little longer since I have to take the bus. Bus rides are fun.
I scramble around my house excited to get to work. I usually wake up at six a.m., but today I treated myself to an extra fifteen minutes. Sometimes you need to be a little reckless, right? Sleeping in means I can’t watch television before work. The only thing on this early is the news and game shows, but I don’t mind. I’ve always been good at puzzles.
I might make coffee at home this morning.
There’s this guy that’s been flirting with me at the coffee shop down the street. It’s irritating. He keeps asking for my number, but I’m not into him at all. I even told him so, but that man doesn’t take a hint. The one on Main might not be too busy. Maybe there’s coffee at work. When I walk out the door, I blow a kiss to Chippy 4.0. My little goldfish swims in circles in her bowl and darts around the sparkly castle. She loves swimming around that thing. I think she likes how shiny it is.
I love my commute to work. It’s better than most people’s. It’s quite brisk in the morning, but that’s why I bundle up in my favourite spring coat. It has lots of buttons, most of them for decoration, and is a nice dark green colour. It reminds me of the forest full of woodland creatures and the smell of pine. I always pack a pair of shorts in my bag in case I get too hot at work. It usually warms up in the afternoon.
I love taking the bus. When I hop on, I smile at the driver and give him a few words of wisdom. My favourite thing to say is “don’t forget to smile! That’s the first step to happiness!”
