What do you think about My Dream Office?
My Dream Office
I’m sure many writers out there already have the ideal setup for their work space. Since I currently don’t have a place of my own, I don’t have the space to have a whole room for just my work stuff. So for now I have to dream and wait for the day when I have my own office.
Here is what I would need:
A Room for My Dream Office
Obviously. Or even half a room as long as it fits all my stuff. The room should also let in a lot of light. Where I currently work (my bedroom or the kitchen table of my boyfriend’s place), I’m close to a window. I don’t have to feel like a hermit living in a cave while I write. As much fun as it is to be closed off from everything and everyone sometimes, it’s good to look into the outside world and know the sunlight is still there. Over-dramatic much?
The Swivel Chair
It spins in place, it rolls on wheels. It’s the swivel chair! This is ideal for any writer’s office. You should be able to keep moving even if you’re sitting in a chair. Sure, I could get up and walk around to stretch my legs, but it’s much more fun to lean back in the chair and spin in circles. Who needs to stand up to get a book when you can slide across the room on a swivel chair?
An L-Shaped Desk
With my current setup, the tables I use don’t leave room for much else besides a laptop. If I want to write on a notebook, I have to move my laptop out of the way. Imagine working on an L-shaped desk. I could be typing away on my computer, then turn in my swivel chair to face the other side of the desk and write in my notebook in a flash. I wouldn’t have to move anything or juggle stuff in my lap just to get everything done. Could even keep more things on and in my desk and look super clean and organized!
Giant Bookshelf
I’ve seen so many awesome people on Instagram that have floor to ceiling bookshelves packed with books. What I wouldn’t give to have bookshelves that wrap around the entire room. I want to grow my collection of books whether they are fiction, notebooks, or books that help me improve my writing. I’ve also been thinking about getting a tablet lately to be able to read more books through Kindle easily. I will still always love physical copies of books, but there are too many to read and I need access to ALL the books!
Those are the main things I need in my dream office. What about you? Let me know in the comments below.
