The adventure unfolds in Hyacinth Part Four…
As I saw a glimpse of their armour, I hopped through the passage and slammed the door shut.
“All right, slimy witch,” I said, “I’m coming for you.”
Travels of Hyacinth: Part Four
The earth was still. No birds sang. No wind billowed through the trees. The flowers in the meadow ahead stood straight with round white petals perfectly spaced apart. I stared at the red sky that used to be blue before the witch cast out all the creatures who lived here in sanctuary. I caught the worst of it, with a curse that grew stronger each day I was away from my home, transforming me into a powerless elf for eternity.
A shiver rolled through my body and black clouds filled the sky. “Have you come for another taste of defeat?” asked a nasally voice above me.
“Didn’t need to try hard to find you,” I said, rising from the ground to match the witch’s gaze. Her black hair flowed like she had her own source of wind and her fingernails were yellow and curved. Her cloak had several holes in it, and the only thing that looked remotely beautiful was her round, glowing face. The one thing she couldn’t bring herself to disfigure as a disgraced fairy.
“I could sense you were coming, Sister.”
“You cursed me. I’m not your sister anymore. You betrayed all of us, especially your Queen.”
“You will never be my queen,” she said, forming a black ball of electricity between her palms. “Where’s that pesky little pink pixie? I thought you would want her help.”
“I realized she wasn’t real. She was created by my imagination when I came into the possession of the orb to find the door. The King’s men were after me, and I think you sent them. You have spies on the outside and every pixie from this realm is trapped in your dungeon. I found you again, so you must return me to my original form and restore my powers. I can already feel them returning being this close to you.”
“Do you ever stop talking? You forgot about one key part of our bargain.”
“What would that be?”
To be continued…
